APPOINTMENTS

We now offer online appointment booking with a program called EMIS Access.

With our new service, gone are the days of not being able to get through to us via telephone.  You don’t need the practice to be open to make an appointment – you can do it all online.

EMIS Access is quick and easy to use enabling you to view, book or cancel appointments – whatever time of the day or night.

Access also enables you to update contact details, such as address or telephone numbers, without having to come into the surgery.

Please try to book all routine appointments a few days in advance, including BP checks, medication checks, HRT checks, and appointments for results or for ongoing conditions. We will endeavour in these instances to offer you the doctor or nurse of your choice.  If you feel you need to be seen the same day you will be placed on the morning’s triage helpline.  The doctor or nurse on duty will speak to you and, if he/she feels your condition is urgent, you will be given an appointment at the end of surgery.  However, this appointment will be for the urgent condition only and cannot be used to discuss ongoing problems.

MINOR AILMENTS SCHEME

If you are experiencing one of the following:-

• Athlete’s foot

• Constipation

• Cough

• Cystitis

• Diarrhea

• Hayfever

• Head lice

• High temperature/fever

• Indigestion

• Mouth ulcers

• Nasal congestion

• Sore throat

• Threadworms

• Thrush

• Warts

you may be able to be treated at one of the following local pharmacies – Ross, Joel Street Northwood Hills, Dallas Joel Street Northwood Hills or Carters, High Street, Northwood. 

You need to contact the surgery by phone or in person and ask for a voucher number.  You can take this to the above pharmacies and ask to discuss your problem with the pharmacist.  If you need a prescription and are exempt from charges you will not be charged for this medication, alternatively you may be given some over the counter medication or simply health advice as appropriate

TELEPHONE ADVICE/TRIAGE

We operate a telephone advice line every day until 10.00am. for patients that feel thay require an appointment on the same day. Please call as early as you can after 8.30am.  If you need urgent medical advice please phone and speak to one of our receptionists, giving a brief description of the problem.  One of the doctors or the nurse practitioner will phone you back shortly.
